James Roebuck Obituary


James C. Roebuck CHESAPEAKE - James Clifton Roebuck, 85, of the 1200 block of Frosty Road, went to be with the Lord Nov. 30, 2008, in Chesapeake. A native of Robersonville, N.C., he was the son of the late James A. Roebuck and Ruby Johnson Weeks. He was a retired maintenance engineer with Shellor Globe Manufacturer and a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Lucille S. Roebuck; two sons, the Rev. Ernest G. Roebuck and his wife Pamela of Gretna, Va., and Joseph Clifton Roebuck and his wife Margaret of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Tara Pass and her husband Jay, Gil Roebuck, Jenny Smith and her husband Charles, Suzanne Roebuck and Barbara Deaderick and her husband Ryan; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Velma Purvis and her husband Dalton; special cousins, Cherie Taylor and Barbara Mobley; and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, granddaddy, and friend. He was always happy and had a beautiful smile. You could not find a more giving person than he was. He was a faithful servant to his Lord and his church. He was devoted to his wife, Lucille, whom he called his sweetheart for 65 years. A funeral will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Woodland Heights Baptist Church, 529 Providence Road, Chesapeake, with Dr. Ken Barnes and the Rev. Ernest Roebuck officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel.
