Donald Greene Obituary


Donald E. Greene NORFOLK - Retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Storekeeper Donald E. Greene, 76, of the 1200 block of Noble St., passed away Dec. 10, 2008, in Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Ben and Ima Greene. He retired from the United States Navy as a senior chief petty officer after 20 years of service. He was also an office manager for Binswanger Glass. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the American Legion Post 40, and was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran. He was avid golfer and tennis player at The Chowan Golf & Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Greene; two daughters, Sherry Correll and husband Stephen of Virginia Beach and Jamie Zadd and husband Patrick of Norfolk; a son, Ronald Wayne Greene and wife Vickie of Norfolk; a brother, Ben H. Greene Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Johnny and Jesse Correll, Stacey Land, Brian Greene and Meredith and Charlie Zadd; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Beck officiating. The burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
