Willis Wilson Obituary


Willis E. Wilson Sr. NORFOLK - Willis E. Wilson Sr., 76, of the 7800 block of Galveston Blvd., passed away Dec. 4, 2008, at Harbour Pointe Rehabilitation Center. He was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Hammond, La., and was a graduate of Hammond High School. Willis retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service as a ships serviceman 2nd class. Special honors include National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Campaign Stars and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (1960). He was predeceased by his father, Andy Wilson Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lena E. Wilson; five daughters, Jennifer Rodrigues, Chrystal Wilson, Selena Edwards, Johnna McKnight and Mitza Williams; two sons, Willis E. Wilson Jr. and Phillip D. Wilson; his mother, Martha Wilson; four sisters, Ida Gardon of Fort Worth, Texas, Diann Holloway, Shirley Armstead, Emily Bell, all of Hammond, La.; four brothers, Andy Wilson Jr., Charles Wilson, Sam Wilson, all of Hammond and Conrad Wilson of Atlanta; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be private. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. Chapel, is in charge. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
