James Freeman Obituary


James J. Freeman Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - James J. Freeman Jr., 72, of the 6700 block of Chartwell Drive, passed away Dec. 9, 2008, at Sentara Bayside Hospital. He was born in Norfolk, to the late Mary C. and J. Jasper Freeman Sr. He was a 22-year retired U.S. Air Force veteran, a pilot, retired from Civil Service Naval Air Station in Norfolk as a supervisor. He was predeceased by one sister, Gloria B. Freeman. Those left to cherish his memory are his five sons, Bruce, Steven, James III, David and Michael Freeman; two sisters, Carolyn F. Williams and Maggie F. Briscoe; one brother, Clarence Freeman (Gladys); a special friend, Birdie Harrison and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Queen Street Baptist Church with Dr. Glenn E. Porter Sr. officiating. The family will assemble at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Queen Street Baptist Church in memory of the J. Jasper Freeman Scholarship Fund.
