Ida Hudgins Obituary


Ida Mae Hudgins KILL DEVIL HILLS - Ida Mae Martin Hudgins, 87, passed away Dec. 12, 2008, in her daughter's home. She was a native of Portsmouth and a charter member of Ocean View Baptist Church in Kill Devil Hills. Ida was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Elwood H. Hudgins; son, Elwood R. "Boo" Hudgins; and a grandson, Brian Dedmon. Ida is survived by her loving family which includes three children, Jane Martin Haywood and husband George of Suffolk, Sue Hudgins Scarborough and husband Clay of Powells Point, N.C., and Edward Jordan Martin and wife Betty of Portsmouth; a sister, Dora E. Tribble of Bluefield, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ida was blessed with many loving and devoted friends. A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Steve Seigrist with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Condolences can be made online at www.lovingfuneralhome.com.
