Trigg Phlegar Obituary


T. Mosby Phlegar NORFOLK - Trigg Mosby Phlegar, 97, died at Harbor Pointe Medical Center Jan. 14, 2009. He was born Dec. 15, 1911, the son of the late David Shanks and Katie T. Phlegar. He attended Norfolk Academy and Danville Military Institute in Danville, Va. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order on June 12, 1935. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, and was with the firm Phlegar and Phlegar, court reporters. Mr. Phlegar was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Royall Phlegar; his sister, Ellen Phlegar Turnbull; and his brother, Dr. David S. Phlegar. He is survived by his sister, Ann Phlegar Harrill of Reidsville, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and loyal friends, William Collins and Harriet Collins. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va., by Dr. Donald E. Makin. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk, Colonial and Redgate Avenues, Norfolk, VA 23517 or the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, 107 West Main St., Christiansburg, VA 24073 or a favorite charity. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, is in charge of arrangements.
