Martha Lederman

Martha Lederman NORFOLK - Martha Lederman passed away peacefully Jan. 17, 2009. She was born and raised in New York City and moved to Norfolk more than 30 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lena Lebowitz and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Max, two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her children, Dr. Ira Lederman and his wife Joan; her daughter, Joan Friedman and her husband Michael; grandsons, Steven Lederman and wife Jane and Scott Friedman and fiancée Joy; granddaughters, Laura Marcus and her husband Jeffrey, Beth Johnson and her husband Brent and Beth Rosenthal and her husband Bobby; great-grandchildren, Brock and Brannon Johnson, Melissa, Lindsey and Jason Marcus, Blair, Megan and Samuel Lederman, Rachel and Jessica Rosenthal; a sister, Sylvia Tannenbaum; and a sister-in-law, Jeanne Lederman. She also leaves many nephews and nieces. She lived a long and active life and influenced many whose lives she touched. She was a member of Temple Israel and in past years was an active volunteer on bingo nights. She enjoyed being with her friends and family; her love and caring will live on. A graveside service will be conducted Monday in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk at 12:30 p.m. by Rabbi Michael Panitz. The family will receive visitors Monday through Wednesday evenings. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Temple Israel. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk chapel, is handling arrangements.
