Lura Lord Obituary

Lura Fern Lord CHESAPEAKE - Lura Fern Lord, 86, of the 1300 block of Cedar Road, passed away Jan. 27, 2009. Born in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, to the late Frieda and Frederick Feucht, Lura was retired from Tidewater Community College as a secretary. For many years she served as the story lady at Russell Memorial Branch of Chesapeake Public Library and was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Fern was the widow of Frederick M.E. Lord and is survived by a daughter, Cindy Guard and husband Cliff of Chesapeake; a son, Cristofer Lord and wife Monica Thompson of Chicago; five grandchildren, Adrienne Pass of Norfolk, Brandon Pass and Gabriel Lord of Chicago, Kimberly Holt of Chesapeake, and Lindsay Williams of Richmond; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Cameron Holt of Chesapeake; and a sister, Mary Alice Foster and husband Harold of Reynoldsburg. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ellen W. Comstock officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
