Shannon Cooler Obituary

Shannon L. Cooler Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Shannon Leeroy Cooler Sr., 65, of Drylie Court, passed away Jan. 26, 2009, in his residence. Born in Charleston, S.C., he was a retired staff sergeant from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Mark, VFW and Disabled American Veterans. Shannon is survived by his wife, Zenaida Mendoza Cooler; seven children, Shannon L. Cooler Jr., Tina Cooler, Paula Jean Pangan and husband Eric, Michael S. Cooler, Nori Walters and husband Michael and Marivic Agapito and husband Eric; 27 grandchildren, including Loraine and Tamra Elliott, Angela Cruz, Alexander Cruz, Emma Pangan and Michael J. Cooler; sister, Edna Avise Cooler Kirby; three stepsisters, three stepbrothers, three half brothers, two half sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Ann Howard. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. with a Christian wake at noon. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with military honors in Carolina Memorial Gardens, Charleston. Memorial donations may be made to your local chapter of Disabled American Veterans. Thank you for making this guesbook in memory of my father. Thank you to you, and all who knew him for the happy and fun times he shared with you. I am glad he was able to meet such warm, caring people and have you in his life for the time he was here.
