Doris Greene Obituary

Doris Rutter Greene PORTSMOUTH - Doris Rutter Greene, 90, passed away Feb. 3, 2009, in her home. A native of Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Roland Linwood and Bessie Vernelson Rutter and the widow of George Robert Greene. She was a former buyer for Ames-Brownley and retired as a legal secretary to Judge Earl Cadmus. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Donna G. Kaiser and husband Robert of High Point, N.C.; her son, Robert W. Green and fiancée Marianne McCormack of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Andrew N. Kaiser and wife Elizabeth of Hickory, N.C., Tracy Greene-Grant and husband Joe of Nebo, N.C., and Kimberly Greene Katherman and husband Robert of Richmond; and four great-grandchildren, Sydney I. Kaiser, Grace E. Kaiser, Andrew N. Kaiser Jr. and Virginia P. Katherman. She was predeceased by a sister, Beulah Rutter Connor. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with the Rev. Marion Brown officiating. The burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to either Broad Street United Methodist Church, 300 Broad St., Portsmouth, VA 23707 or Bon Secours Hospice of Maryview Medical Center, 3636 High St., Portsmouth, VA 23707.
