Leon Clark "the Pungo Boy" Dudley

Leon Dudley Obituary

Leon C. Dudley VIRGINIA BEACH - Leon Clark "the Pungo Boy" Dudley, 63, passed away Feb. 5, 2009, in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Leon was a lifelong resident of Princess Anne County. Born to the late Russell Leon and Dorothy Eaton Sept. 18, 1945, he was a beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Judie; three children, Michael Leon and wife Patricia, Andrew Tomson and Katherine Hattie; two stepchildren, Nicholas Daniello and Christopher Daniello and wife Michelle; three grandchildren, Jackson Neal and Patrick Clark Dudley and Caitlyn Daniello; one brother, Richard and wife Elizabeth and their son Matthew; one sister, Ellen Dudley and her daughters Amy Rose and husband David and Michelle Schenker and husband Alex; and his beloved dogs, Sally and Bear. Leon was retired after more than 20 years as a car salesman for the Ford Motor Company and enjoyed meeting and spending time with all his customers and friends. One of his best attributes was his gift of gab and never meeting a stranger. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family, especially at his favorite restaurant "The Beach Pub." He loved being on the water. He was always up for throwing a NASCAR race party for friends and taking his "Boys" to the races. Leon's only daughter, "Katie Skates," held a special soft spot in her father's heart. Leon lived for his grandchildren and allowed them to do whatever they wanted, which often got him into trouble with Nana. He will always be remembered for his ability to make others laugh and simply just being a friend. His family will miss all the joy he has brought them over the years. Services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. in Oak Grove Baptist, 685 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the home of Michael and Patricia Dudley, 1736 Back Bay Landing Road, Virginia Beach. The family requests all memorial donations go to Ducks Unlimited Wetlands Conservation.

To the entire Dudley family,
Leon first became a part of our "family" through my oldest brother Petey years ago. Since then, my brothers and I, our children and now our grandchildren have maintained a wonderful friendship that started over 50 years ago. Judie, you helped give Leon an extra few years by constantly being there for him during his lengthy battle with diabetes and his related health problems. We have admired your love, devotion and most of all your patience. We will miss Leon always but we also know that his time on earth was spent loving life and his family.

Dear Judie and the Dudley Family,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Leon will be greatly missed my many fellow Pungoians. He definitely had a way with words and he always made us feel welcome. The Bristol race that we attended with him many years ago will always be an awesome memory. Take care.
Love,
