George Lyon Obituary

George U. Lyon VERO BEACH, Fla. - George U. Lyon, 83, died Feb. 14 in Indian River Medical Center. He was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Norfolk and had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1988 coming from Roanoke, Va. George was a member of the American Society of Magicians Assembly 279, lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians where he served as its first president in Norfolk, Ring 103. He spent 15 years as courier with the Indian River County Clerk of Court. Mr. Lyon is survived by his brother, Charles Smith of Vero Beach; two half-sisters, Susan Lyon and Ann Ackiss, both of Norfolk; half-brother, George C. Lyon Jr., also of Norfolk; and his dog, Mitzi. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with Dr. Les Koerselman, Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach, officiating. A graveside service will be held in Norfolk at a later date. An online guest book may be signed at www.lowtherfuneralhome.com.
