Charles Furtner Obituary

Charles Richard Furtner CHESAPEAKE - Charles Richard Furtner, 74, of the 900 block of Grandy Drive, passed away Feb. 17, 2009, in Norfolk. A native of Arlington County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Furtner. He retired from the U.S. Government Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Mae Furtner; his son, Robert Coffman and wife Dawn of Suffolk; three daughters, Patricia Clarke and husband Richard of South Mills, N.C., Donna Beck and husband Joseph of Chesapeake and Cheryl Demo and husband Paul of Shawboro, N.C.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a sister and four brothers. A celebration of his life will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, Saturday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
