Lela Terry Obituary

Lela S. Terry WILLIS WHARF - Mrs. Lela Sturgis Terry, 92, wife of Nat W. Terry and a resident of Willis Wharf, passed away Feb. 17, 2009, at her residence. A native of Eastville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ivy Onley Sturgis. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club, where she was active in the Ladies Golf Association. Mrs. Terry was a wonderful homemaker who raised three boys, grandchildren, and welcomed all friends with open arms. Other than her husband, she is survived by three sons, Chuck Terry and his wife Drenda of Clarksville, Tenn., Pete Terry and his wife Ann and Wec Terry and his wife Greta, all of Willis Wharf; six grandchildren, Marcie, Stacey, Tucker, Brian, Heather and husband Roland and Laura and husband Zach; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond McGarr officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lions District 24-D, c/o Bud Warren, 1048 Yardley Landing, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.doughtyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements were made by Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore.
