Aaron Edmundson Obituary

A. Caswell Edmundson EDENTON - Aaron Caswell Edmundson, 78, of the 1100 block of W. Sound Shore Drive, died Feb. 23, 2009, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Mr. Edmundson was born in Wayne County, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Frank Edward and Eula Mae Ginn Edmundson. The founder and retired president of Carpet & Appliance Plaza, he graduated from Pikeville High School and was a 1953 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A member of Edenton Baptist Church, he served as the chairman of the Board of Deacons in 2002-2003, was a member of the Lloyd Griffin Men's Sunday school class, and was a member and past chairman of the church's finance committee. A member and past president of the Edenton Lions Club, he had received the award for the Best Deputy District Governor in 1979-80, was chairman of the Salvation Army Scholarship Committee in 2003-2004, chairman of Camp Dogwood in 2006-2007, was a past president of the Edenton Jaycees, and held a special fondness for his membership in the Blount Bunch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Edmundson; and his brother, Velma Boyce Edmundson. Surviving are his beloved wife, Lucy Meade Harless Edmundson; two sons, Caswell Michael Edmundson of Elizabeth City and William Franklin Edmundson and wife Linda Dail Edmundson of Edenton; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Edmundson Swicegood and husband Brian Wilkins Swicegood of Durham, Christopher Franklin Edmundson of Greenville and Tyler Dail Edmundson of Edenton. Also surviving are his wife's children and their families, Katherine Harless McMullan and husband Henry McMullan and their children Matt and Mary Meade McMullan of High Point and Martha Scott Harless High and husband W. Hackney High Jr. and their children, Molly and William High of Edenton. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edenton Baptist Church by the Rev. David Brooks. Private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Edenton Baptist Church, 200 S. Granville St., Edenton, NC 27932. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
