Thomas E. Kingsley SOUTHERN SHORES - Thomas Edward Kingsley, 85, passed away Feb. 22, 2009. He was born to the late Loretta Sullivan Kingsley and the late Thomas Edward Kingsley in Brooklyn, N.Y., Sept. 20, 1923. He met the love of his life, Rosemary Donovan, whom he married after the war. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army in World War II. Upon his return from Europe, he continued his studies at Manhattan College from which he graduated in 1948 with a bachelor's of science. Tom and Rosemary moved to Long Island where they raised their three children. Tom's career as a salesman was a natural for a man who enjoyed all people and never forgot a name. In 1988, Tom and Rosemary retired to Southern Shores where he was an avid reader, enjoyed golf, their sailboat and the beauty of the area. After Rosemary's death, he became very active in Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk, N.C. He was a leader in fundraising efforts to rebuild the church, among other involvements. He will be missed greatly by his children who loved him, Thomas Kingsley and wife Bernadette, Mark Kingsley and Denise K. and husband Will Graham; grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Caitlin and Megan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Roy; and nieces, nephews and friends. A viewing will be held at Twiford Funeral Home, Manteo, today from 6 to 9 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Dr. William F. Walsh, OSFS. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at the Southern Shores Cemetery where he will join Rosemary. Visit www.twifordfh.com to sign the online register.
