I first met Jim in Cat Lo, Viet Nam in 1970 and we were not only Mates we became the best of friends. After my tour I was assigned to the USS Vogelgesang(DD-862) out of Norfolk, Virginia. After Jim's tour was over in 1972 and I had returned from a Med cruise I was on the Fo'c'sle and I looked down on the pier and there was Jim and his wife Phillis. That is a true friend. Even our Mothers became real good friends. mine from Ca. and his from Pa. In fact he invited my Mother on a dependents cruise when he was stationed aboard the USS Newport News(CA-148). We had alot of fun times camping, gardning, going to see Elvis. Jim was always there when something broke down and I was at sea. We will miss you. You were truly a Mate and a true friend. The lines are fallen unto you in pleasant places: yea, I have a goodly heritage Psalms XVI, 6 Fair Winds and Following Seas, Mate. Till we meet again. Tish if you ever need us we are here for you .keep in touch love Bill&Jean Brieske
