Sandra Hill Obituary

Sandra D. Hill NORFOLK - Sandra Decker Hill, 71, died Feb. 27, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer. Ms. Hill was born May 21, 1937, in Norfolk, the daughter of the late Alfred LeRoy Decker and Ann Decker Beale. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, George Roberts Hill Jr. Ms. Hill was a graduate of Stratford Hall High School in Danville, Va. She was a member of The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters and the Norfolk Junior League. She was also a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Ms. Hill enjoyed gardening, visiting the beach and spending time with friends and family. She also loved animals and was a supporter of the Norfolk SPCA. Survivors include her sisters, Anne Decker Hyrne and Jean Thompson Powell; a son, George Roberts "Robby" Hill III of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Jean Hill Jordan and her husband Staley and Anne Tylden Hill, both of Norfolk; and two granddaughters, Macy Bancroft Jordan and Grace Elizabeth Jordan. Ms. Hill also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at noon Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk by the Rev. Robert Davenport. A reception will be held at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Norfolk SPCA, 916 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23504, The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
