Roberta C. Steiner VIRGINIA BEACH - Roberta "Bert" Cohen Steiner, 90, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009. She was born in Newport News, March 12, 1918, the daughter of the late William and Sadie Cohen. Mrs. Steiner was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Ted Steiner. She was also predeceased by her brother, Melvin Coburn and her brother-in-law, Lorman Frieden, both of California. She and her husband were founders and life members of Temple Sinai in Portsmouth. She was a member of the Sisterhood at the Temple. Mrs. Steiner was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She never knew a stranger and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving family including three children: son, Michael Steiner and his wife Natalie of Norfolk; daughter, Judith Steiner Wagner of Virginia Beach; and her son, Daniel W. Steiner of Chesapeake; sister, Justine Frieden and her sister-in-law, Rena Coburn, both of California; four grandchildren, Tracie Ransone and her husband Jack, Adam Steiner and his wife Marieke, Bryan Wagner and his wife Maggie and Aaron Steiner; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. Rabbi Arthur Z. Steinberg will officiate. The family will be available Thursday afternoon and evening following the service and Friday during the day at the home of Michael and Natalie Steiner at Freemason Harbor in Norfolk. The family wishes to extend to Bay Pointe Medical and Rehabilitation their sincere thanks especially to Deena, Sue, and her special angel, Donna, for their loving care.
