My dear Mother-in-law Irene. You were kind, loving, generous, fun,as well as a good cook. You gave me the love of my life, your beautiful, beloved daughter Anita, for which I will be eternally grateful. After Wendell went to heaven, Anita brought you to live in our home, You ate at our table, you two shopped, laughed and loved. We went to church and prayed together. Life was good again.Your health began to fail, then Anita was stricken with cancer. Our lives changed, never to be the same. Anita and I had to move to NY to be in the cancer hospital, and you had to move into a nursing home.We were all devastated. But God had a plan. While back in the NY hospital, she got a call, saying you were failing. She appealled to her Dr. to let her come back early, for she could not let you be alone. After much discussion they agreed, and we came home. She was able to be with you that weekend. Tuesday, Lisa flew in and I took her and Anita to be with you.The three of you held hands, prayed, cried, exchanged "I love you's ".It was beautiful. Later that evening, Adam and Lisa found you sleeping peacefully. About midnite God sent his Special Angels to carry you to his waiting arms. No more pain and suffering, only His eternal love .I will always have fond memories of our lives together. Your son-in-law Gene

Mom, You were a kind, caring, loving mother, with a heart of gold.A sweet angel, for anyone to know you was to love you. Though you no longer hold us when we cry, laugh with us when we are happy, we will ever feel your presence in our hearts and souls. The many things you taught us, molded us into the people we have become. Goodbye my sweet Angel, Your loving daughter, Nita ,

Grandma,

I miss you very much -I remember visiting and living in both Alexandria and Virginia Beach and knowing even as a child what a special caring and full of life person you were-definately much more fun than a typical Grandma-you always managed to make make me feel special regardless of the circumstances-I am glad you are no longer suffering , I know how much it hurt you (here in recent years) not to be able to run at your usual fast pace-I know you are at peace now but it is not easing my sorrow
-I miss you.

Dear family,
I'm so saddened by your loss. Irene's support meant a great deal to me when Brian adopted Michael. I really needed to know that I was doing the right thing for him. May God give you comfort and the rememberance of happy times to console you through this most difficult time. Love to you all.

Grandma, I have always admired you as a beautiful and strong woman. I regret that we didn't get to spend much time together but I'll always remember the family reunions in Va. Beach and visiting your condo/"art studio." I am grateful that our family could visit you last summer. I know that you are now well and happy again, happier than ever. We all love you dearly and will miss you so much.

I only met Irene once in 2005 on a visit with Michael. In that one visit, we chatted about so many things. That we share the same birthday, that she worked in Woolworths as a young girl, like myself. Irene showed me all the pictures of her family growing up and told me some funny tales about Michael as a child. The one thing that stood out above all else, was her love for her family. She was so proud of their achievements. From that one meeting, I knew that Irene was a warm and loving person. She will be greatly missed by her family and I wish I could have got to know her better. Irene, rest in peace.

In memory of my Mother: Very few people have to endure the hardships she had in her life. Through it all she did not complain. Her main love in life was her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was to be able to help them . She never had the means to do all she wanted but whatever she had she gave even if it meant she did without herself. She always saw the best in us all and was proud of our accomplishments.

I regret that the last years of her life were so unhappy for her. We should remember her when her health was good and she was happy. We were all blessed to have her in our lives.

We had the pleasure of meeting Irene, our son-in-law Adam's grandmother only once, and we left with such a nice impression of her. It was obvious that she was such a sweet, caring, woman.
During this time of saddness and loss, we know the family will cherish even more, the special memories they have of this wonderful lady!

Irene was one of the most caring people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She always put others first and would do just about anything to help anyone out. I remember when I first met Irene and how nicely she treated me, always making me feel welcome. We shared an interest in reading and she was always on the lookout for books she thought I would enjoy. Irene will be missed by many including my family and I. I take comfort in knowing that she is in a better place and that someday we will all be reunited. Our prayers are with the entire family.
