Mary Roberson

Mary F. Roberson VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary Frances Roberson, 64, of Century Drive, went to be with the Lord June 15, 2009. A native of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Frances Buckwalter and the widow of Verlon Ray Roberson. She retired from Policy Studies Inc. with the Child Support Enforcement Department. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and active in the Vestry and the choir. She was also past president of the local chapter of N.O.W. Mary had a kind, gentle spirit and will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. She inspired all who knew her through her caregiving, hard work, and perseverance during her 5-year battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. VanMeter of Chesapeake; her son, Eric R. Roberson of Norfolk; and two granddaughters, Kinsey VanMeter and Kendall VanMeter, both of Chesapeake, who were the joy of her life. She is also survived by sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jim Anderson officiating immediately followed by a reception at the church. The family will receive friends in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Francis Episcopal Church.
