Jean Clifton Obituary

Jean Scott Clifton CHESAPEAKE - Jean Scott Clifton, 78, daughter of the late Hymon and Laura Scott, died June 15, 2009, in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Willie N. Clifton. She retired from Portsmouth Public Schools after 34 years of service. Her organizations include Calanthe Duers Court No. 273, Household of Ruth No. 2544, United Order of Tents Queen Esther No. 494, Zeta Phi Beta, Portsmouth Chapter, and Past Matron of Brighton Light No. 118 OES-PHA. Survivors include a son, James G. Clifton (Patricia) of Newark, N.J.; one grandson, Alexander Clifton of Portsmouth; two sisters, Laura Stewart (Reginald) of Chesapeake, and Blondell E. Hardie of Portsmouth; one brother, Robert L. Scott of Newport News; a host of brother- and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews. A service to celebrate Jean's life will be held Monday, June 21, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Baptist Church, Deep Creek Blvd., Chesapeake. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends today, June 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the funeral home. Corprew Funeral Home is in charge.
