James Casey Obituary

James M. Casey VIRGINIA BEACH - James Malcolm "Jim" Casey, 68, of Virginia Beach, loving father of Laura Moline (Thomas) of Canton and Jay Casey of Lakewood; dear grandfather of Michael and Joseph Moline of Canton; dear brother of Marilyn Kirsh (Larry) of Millersburg; and dear uncle and cousin of many. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dorothy Nichols Redden; his father, James Mitchell Casey; and his grandparents, former Galion, Ohio Mayor Jay Nichols and Blodwin Jones Nichols. Born in Galion, Dec. 23, 1940, Jim graduated from Galion High School in 1958 where he was a member of the marching band and a drummer for the "Tiger Trio+1." He cherished his Galion friendships which continued throughout his lifetime. Jim graduated from BGSU in 1963 and spent his career as both a journalist and an executive with several Cleveland-area advertising agencies. He leaves many friends in Virginia Beach where he spent his retirement fishing, surfing the Internet, and working in his yard only blocks away from the ocean. He passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in Virginia Beach following complications from open heart surgery. Condolences and special memories may be shared at www.memorialwebsites.legacy.com/jamesmalcolmcasey. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation at www.cbf.org. In keeping with Jim's wishes, he was privately cremated. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. in Iberia Cemetery, Iberia, Ohio.
