Mary Goldsmith Obituary

Mary Goldsmith GREENVILLE, S.C. - Mary Tutwiler Addison Goldsmith, 80, widow of William J. Goldsmith, died Saturday, June 20, 2009. She was born and grew up in Norfolk, and was the daughter of the late Helen Howlett Dorset Addison and Arthur D.U. Addison Jr. She was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Roger R. R. (Elizabeth) Varin and Mrs. John W. (Whitney) Collins and a son and daughter-in-law, William A. (Lois) Goldsmith, all of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Roger Varin, Mary Addison Varin, John W. Collins Jr., W. Bayne Collins, Elizabeth P. Collins, William J. Goldsmith, II, Charles D. Goldsmith, R. Griffin Goldsmith and Addison W. Goldsmith, all of Greenville. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen D. Addison and a brother, Arthur D. U. Addison III of Norfolk. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Christ Church Churchyard with the Rev. Ted DuVall officiating. The family received friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Roger Varin, 119 Rockingham Road, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, memorials please be made to: Christ Church, 10 N. Church St., Greenville, 29601; American Red Cross, 940 Grove Road, Greenville, 29605 or Greenville Humane Society, 328 Furman Hall Road, Greenville, 29609.
