Nathan Davis Obituary

Nathan Davis Jr. NORFOLK - Nathan Davis Jr., 71, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2009. He was born on April 20, 1938 in Tasley, Va. to the late Nathan and Viva Davis Sr. After 26 years of service, Nathan retired from the 7-Up Bottling Co., then worked for the Lance Co. for 10 years. In 1996 he founded Norfolk Vending Co. Nathan was an involved member of Norview Baptist Church. He drove the church bus for many years for prison ministry and Sunday school. Nathan was a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 26 years, Norma Davis; four children, Jeffrey W. Davis of Poquoson, Monty K. Davis of Virginia Beach, Kimberly D. Sammons of Poquoson, and Timothy N. Davis and his wife Tammy of Poquoson; stepson, Dana Dolder and his wife Renee of Norfolk; brothers, Charles Davis and his wife Barbara of Louisiana, and Vaughan Davis of the Eastern Shore; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bill Twine. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation and/or the Norview Lions Club.
