Francis Price Obituary

Francis B. Price CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Mr. Francis Bernard Price, 83, of the 2400 block of Inverness Drive, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 20, 2009. A native of Surry County, Virginia, he grew up in the Berkeley section of Norfolk. Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Lois F. Price. He was a church music minister for 35 years at three Tidewater churches: Prentis Park Presbyterian, Green Acres Presbyterian, and Bethany Baptist. He was a well-respected and much loved piano and voice teacher in the Portsmouth area for 40 years. Francis was a graduate of Maury High School and Shenandoah Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree. He taught choral music at Brevard College for five years. The Lord blessed and gifted Francis with a beautiful voice and a passion for singing. He is survived by two daughters, Shannon P. Jones and husband Rob and Laura P. Perry; a son, Tim Price; and four grandchildren, Beth Horstick, Kenny Perry, Cassidy Jones, and Connor Jones. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Bethany Baptist Church by the Rev. Gene Primm. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel.
