Rose Otto Obituary

Rose Marie Otto CHESAPEAKE - Rose Marie Otto, previously of Lynchburg, Va., passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Rose was known to her family and most friends as Pete, a nickname given to her by her parents due to her love of the old tune "Piccolo Pete." She was predeceased by her parents, Evelyn and James Otto of Covington, Va., where she was raised. Also predeceasing her were three brothers-in-law, James Lemon, Lea Pasley and James Leftwich. Pete worked in the physics department at the University of Maryland for 35 years as an accounting clerk. Pete was much loved by all of her family. She was the family touchstone and loving confidant. Survivors include three sisters, Ella Lemon of Brandon, Miss., Addie Pasley of Tupelo, Miss., and Eleaner Leftwich of Chesapeake; a nephew, Joe Lemon and wife Judy and their children, Abigail, Johannah and Mary Grace Lemon. Pete chose to live close to Joe and Judy and moved twice to keep near them. They were especially dear to her. Also surviving are nieces, Le Lemon and her children Ryann and Elaine, Lynn Corbitt and her husband Creig and their children, Kristen, Kimberly, Katherine and Keeley, Lisa Ford and husband Ron and their children, Mallory and Morgan, Leslie Moore and her children, Ashley, Anna Grace and Pasley, Terri Myers and husband Gino, Twinky Kelleher and husband Jeff; nephews, Patrick Lemon and wife Mary Jane and their children, Jay and Murphy, Lea Pasley Jr., his wife, Rhonda, and Lea's children, Lea III, Drew and Dana, James Leftwich Jr. and wife Renee and their children, Logan, Austin, Faith, Hope and James III, due in September as well as a beloved cat, Maury. A memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later date at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Covington, Va. The inurnment will be in Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery, Natural Well, Va.
