Nellie Haislip Obituary

Nellie V. Haislip VIRGINIA BEACH - Nellie G. Haislip, 77, passed away June 24, 2009. She was born March 25, 1932, in Appomattox County. The family moved to Bayville Farms when she was 14. She was a graduate of Kempsville High School. Nellie worked as a secretary for Bank of Virginia for 15 years and Forest Exterminating for 13 years. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, John Samuel and Ida Dove Guill; her sisters, Lillian Robertson, Ida Malbone, Nancy Guill, Anne Williams and Ruby Gaulding; her brothers, Harilah L. Guill, Otis W. Guill and Richard S. Guill; and a stepson, Louis R. Haislip. Nellie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Billy Haislip; two sisters, Jennette Guill of Chesapeake and Hilda Copeland of Richmond; a niece, Jean Burke of Newport News; five stepchildren; and the love of her life, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will remember her as a kind and giving person that will be deeply missed. The family wants to express their gratitude to all the caregivers at Heritage Hall in Nassawadox for the compassion they provided. Thanks to all. The family will receive friends in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. Since Nellie had such a great love for animals the family requests memorial donations be made to the Virginia Beach SPCA, 3040 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23453 in Nellie's name.
