Nat W. Terry Sr.

Nat W. Terry Sr. WILLIS WHARF - Mr. Nat W. Terry Sr., 94, a resident of Willis Wharf, passed away June 24, 2009, in Heritage Hall Healthcare, Nassawadox. A devoted husband of 67 years to the late Lela Sturgis Terry, he was a native of Willis Wharf and the son of the late Henry Miller Terry and the late Rachel Wescott Terry. Mr. Terry was past president and longtime secretary of the Exmore/Belle Haven Lions Club, past district governor of the Lions District 24-D, served on the Northampton County Zoning Board, Northampton/ Accomack Planning Commission, and the board of the Eastern Shore Community College. He was a founding member and past president of the Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club, member of Exmore Moose Lodge No. 683, and the Accomac Elks Lodge. Mr. Terry attended Virginia Tech, Class of 1936, and was an active member of Virginia Tech Alumni Corps of Cadets, "Old Guard." He was a longtime owner with his brother, H.M. "Buzz" Terry Jr., of H.M. Terry Company Inc. He is survived by three sons, Chuck Terry and his wife Drenda of Clarksville, Tenn., Pete Terry and his wife Ann, and Wec Terry and his wife Greta, all of Willis Wharf; a sister, Fan Milligan of Hockessin, Del.; six grandchildren, Marcie, Stacey, Tucker, Brian, Heather and husband Roland, Laura and husband Zach; and three great-grandchildren, Dillon, Taylor and Mya. He was predeceased by his brother, H.M. "Buzz" Terry Jr. A funeral will be Saturday, June 27, at 3 p.m. in Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond McGarr officiating.
