William Gray Obituary

William Gray Jr. NORFOLK - William Gray Jr., 64, of the 800 block of Etheridge Ave., passed away June 25, 2009. He was born April 25, 1945, in Norfolk. William served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963-69, completing two 1-year tours in Vietnam. He was an avid fisherman. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Hancock and a daughter, Desiree B. Gray. He is survived by five daughters, Monique Vickers (Atley), Racquel Nanes, Rockia Harris, Angela Diggs and Lily Lyles; three sons, Breontay Harris, Trent Lyles and Julius Lyles; his mother, Elizabeth Hancock; 13 grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; two sisters, Emmalee Wadsworth and Janice Fonseca (Alfredo); a longtime companion, Lucille N. Lyles; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 120 W. Berkley Ave. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Family and friends will assemble at 830 Etheridge Ave. one hour prior to the service for the procession to the chapel.
