Dennis Bowman

Dennis J. Bowman VIRGINIA BEACH - Dennis J. Bowman, 57, passed away June 29, 2009. He was the son of the late Francis and Carole Bowman. Dennis was a graduate of Norfolk Catholic High School and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. He was a Merchant Seaman for many years, but gave up his sea legs to manage a local hardware store during which time Dennis became known as the "master bike mechanic." His civic responsibility was exemplified when he became juror No. 312 on the DC Sniper trial. He was recognized for his sharp wit and known by many to be an "old soul." Survivors include his siblings, David W. Bowman and wife Malisa of Chesapeake, Denise Bowman Arcure and husband Dan of Mountain Top, Pa.; nephews, Matthew and Noah; niece, Holly; and numerous friends. His cats will also miss him greatly. The service will be Thursday July 2, at 1 p.m. in Altmeyer Funeral Home, Maestas Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave., with Father James E. Parke officiating.
