Richard Vass Obituary

Richard A. Vass Jr. RALEIGH - Richard Alexander "Rick" Vass Jr., 57, of the 4700 block of Hollowell Lane, died June 30, 2009, in a Durham, N.C., VA hospital. Mr. Vass was born in Portsmouth Feb. 9, 1952 and a disabled veteran. He graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in 1970 and attended Norfolk State University before serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Alexander Vass Sr. Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Vass; two daughters, LaKitia Covington and Yolanda Covington; a son, Kevin Covington; his mother, Doris Jean Vass; three brothers, Howard (JoAnn) Vass, Larry (Wilma) Vass, Vincent (Odessa) Vass; several grandchildren, uncles, aunts and cousins. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Fayetteville, N.C. Carlton L. Gray Funeral Home, (919)231-6120, is in charge.
