William Wheeley

William H. Wheeley NORFOLK - William Howard Wheeley, 59, died July 4, 2009, at home. Mr. Wheeley was born in Portsmouth, the son of the late William Hardee and Rose M. Wheeley. He received his bachelor's degree from Virginia Wesleyan College and his master's degree from Old Dominion University. He held professional certifications as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a National Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Mr. Wheeley had retired after 30 years as an intake officer with Norfolk Juvenile Court. He was most recently a therapist with Associated Counselors of Tidewater. He was a longtime member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Pamela Haycox Wheeley of Norfolk; two daughters, Jennifer Palmer and her husband Tobin of Norfolk, Rachel Pearce and her husband John of Warrenton, Va.; four grandchildren, Megan and Emily Palmer of Norfolk, and Kristen and William Pearce of Warrenton. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk by the Rev. C. Berkley Ford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association DC/MD/VA/ Chapter 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
