Terrence O'Donnell Obituary

Terrence F. O'Donnell VIRGINIA BEACH - Retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Terrence F. O'Donnell, 78, passed away peacefully June 29, 2009. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Margie; his parents, Frank and Ellen O'Donnell; a sister who died at birth; and his aunt, Lillian Franey. Mr. O'Donnell was born and raised in Hamilton, Mont., earned his bachelor's degree from University of Washington, and an MBA from Northwestern University. He retired from the U.S. Navy, Supply Corps after serving in both Korea and Vietnam. "Terry" was a faithful member of the Catholic Church of the Ascension. He is survived by his sons, Michael O'Donnell and his wife Debbie of Lafayette, La., Tim O'Donnell of Virginia Beach, and daughter Mary Green and husband Mark of Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren, Alexander O'Donnell and wife Natasha of Manchester, England, Matt and Shea O'Donnell of Virginia Beach, Daniel Green of Asheville, N.C., and Katie O'Donnell of Lafayette, La.; and cousin, Father Tom O'Donnell of Montana. Mr. O'Donnell was a loving husband to his wife Margie of 50 years. He was a dedicated father who passed on a strong work ethic, love of country, love of family, and love of life to his children as well as many others he met along his life's journey. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery Wednesday, Oct. 7.
