James Courtney Obituary

James Randolph Courtney CHESAPEAKE - James Randolph "Randy" Courtney, 49, of the 300 block of Etheridge Road, passed away Monday, July 6, 2009. Born in Norfolk, he was the son of James B. Courtney Jr. and wife Barbara and Judy G. Graves and husband Dan. Randy was a skilled and talented mechanic with the Great Bridge Service Center. His work was always a high priority and his work ethic was unmatched. Randy was a kind and giving spirit who brought much joy to the lives of those who knew him. Including his parents, Randy is survived by a sister, Lisa Perkins and husband Russell; his paternal grandfather, James B. Courtney Sr. and wife Ruby; an uncle, Dennis "Butch" Courtney and wife Ginger; nephews, Chris, Daniel and David; nieces, Courtney and Carley; and his beloved companion, Darlene. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 9, in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The interment will be private in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The viewing will begin today with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook and to view the service via live webcast at www.omanfh.com.
