Gordon Ramey Obituary

Gordon A. Ramey VIRGINIA BEACH - Gordon Anthony "Tony" Ramey, 66, passed away July 6, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 26, 1942, in Blaine, Ky., to Lewie and Marjorie Ramey. Tony served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and than began a career with IBM where he retired after 30 years of service. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Lewie Ramey. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Marjorie Ramey; loving wife of 46 years, Jean Ramey; sons, Blaine A. Ramey and Christopher A. Ramey; brother, Randall Ramey and wife Helen; nieces, Cathy Kohler and husband Dean, Cindy Stephenson and husband Jim, Kimberly Moore and husband Jerry, and Susan Gebhardt and husband John; great-nieces, Jaime and husband Chris, Meredith, Katie, and Carlie; great-nephews, Dean Jr., Adam, Kent, Corey, Timothy, Jacob, and Logan; and a very special granddog, Heely. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Sentara Home Care Services Hospice for all of their love and support throughout Tony's illness. A service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with burial to follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park, N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 9, at the funeral home. sIn lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the American Institute for Cancer Research, www.aicr.org/memory. You may pay condolences to the family at www.mem.com.
