Hazael Carolino

Hazael C. Carolino VIRGINIA BEACH - Hazael Castil Carolino, 77, passed away on July 12, 2009, at a local hospital. Mr. Carolino was born in Anda, Pangasinan, Philippines. He was a trailblazer. In 1954, he walked over 100 primitive miles to join the U.S. Navy. His many accomplishments changed the lives for many generations of the Carolino family. He retired from the U.S. Navy, Attack Squadron 34, Oceana, in 1974 and from civil service after 20 years of service. He was a member of Princess Anne United Methodist Church. Mr. Carolino was preceded in death by two brothers, Elurefe and Deciderio Carolino. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Eudocia Rabaja Carolino; four sons, Hazael R. Carolino Jr. (Maria), Don R. Carolino (Sheila), Peter R. Carolino (Wendy) and Gil Carolino (Kristen), all of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Jonathan, Matthew, Joshua, Dylan, Jessica, Connor, Zachary and Colin; three brothers, Jerome, Virgilio, Flamin Carolino; and four sisters, Elemilie Dacanay, Sefora Cruz, Adoracion Tabiando, Eurica Afalla. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A celebration of Mr. Carolino's life will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Princess Anne United Methodist Church by the Rev. Gel Samson. Interment will follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park.
