Gladys Broome Obituary

Gladys Rose Broome CHESAPEAKE - Gladys Rose Broome, 80, of the 700 block of Remington Drive, died July 13, 2009, in her home. Mrs. Broome was born in Norfolk, the daughter of the late Harvey and Mary Payne Rose. She retired as a postal worker of Moyock, N.C., after 26 years. She was a member of Moyock Baptist Church, served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of APWU, Postal Workers Union. She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Reed and husband Tim of Dover, Ohio; five sons, John L. Broome and wife Clara, Daniel W. Broome, Robert L. Broome and wife Bonnie, all of Aurora, N.C., Roger Broome and wife Jackie of Massillon, Ohio, and Norman Steve Broome of Lindendwold, N.J. In addition to her children she has 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Broome was predeceased by her son, James W. Broome of Dover, Ohio; her grandson, Logan James Broome; and her husband, William L. Broome. The family will receive friends and family Thursday at Moyock Baptist Church in Moyock, N.C., from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Her service will be Friday at Moyock Baptist Church at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Twifords Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is handling arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.
