Carmen Jones Obituary

Carmen R. Jones CHESAPEAKE - Carmen R. Jones, 67, a longtime resident of Chesapeake, passed away July 16, 2009, at her home. Carmen was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on May 9, 1942. She immigrated to the United States as a child and proudly became a naturalized citizen on April 22, 1968. Carmen was known for her unmatched work ethic, rarely missing a day of work. She enjoyed chatting with friends and family and making them laugh with her anecdotes. She especially loved doting on her two grandchildren. Carmen is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Earl Jones Sr. She is also survived by her children, Ronnie Goforth and wife Suzette of Chesapeake, Dusti Harrell and husband Charles of Chesapeake, and Dean Jones of Virginia Beach; her two grandchildren, Theresa Goforth and Ryder Harrell; mother-in-law, Lorraine Jones; two sisters, Christine Porter and Alice Hernandez; brother, Savior Avila; sister-in-law, Jodi Perkins and husband Pete; brother-in-law, Bill Jones and wife Linda. She was predeceased by her son, James E. Jones Jr.; brother, Juan Avila, and father-in-law, Deane W. Jones. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel. The burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
