Although I did not get to know Dr. Flippen incredibly well over the years, I meet him at a young age and I remember him being so kind, intelligent, and whitty. He really took me in and was always so interested in what was going on in my life. He is missed.

Lew was my Dentist, my teacher, my friend. Always there for me before, during and after dental school. We remember the times at Sandbridge, and the special dinners with Lew.

We will miss him as he was a friend & mentor. Taught me in dental school. Loaned us his Sandbridge home for our honeymoon. Befriended our four sons. Great man. God will take care of Lew from here. Jim Burns VMI'68 MCV'72.

My sympathy to the family. Lou was one of my teachers in dental school and he and I have kept in touch since then.
