Gloria W. Keaveney WATERBURY, Conn. - Mrs. Gloria W. Keaveney, 82, died peacefully Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Saint Mary's Hospital after an extended illness. She was the widow William Keaveney. Mrs. Keaveney was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Norfolk, the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Blanchard) Goodrich and was educated in Norfolk schools. Gloria was an active member of several political organizations and was privileged to serve the City of Waterbury as elected town clerk from Jan. 1, 1970 to Dec. 31, 1975 and as Democratic Deputy Registrar of Voters from Jan. 5, 1977 to Feb. 20, 1993. She also was a member of the Democratic Women's Booster Club, the Quota Club, and the Waterbury Democratic Town Committee. She was a member of the East End Community Club and enjoyed traveling with her family. She served as a Eucharistic minister at Christ Episcopal Church of Waterbury where she was an active member. Gloria is survived by her two sons, John Keaveney and his wife Carol of Waterbury and William Keaveney of Chicopee, Mass.; her two daughters, Carol Mosman and her husband Donald of Plymouth, N.H., and Faith Keaveney of Waterbury; two sisters, Maryann Horton and Betty Curling, both of Chesapeake; as well as five grandchildren, John, Jeffrey, Jason, Kelsi, and Craig Keaveney; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Braydon, Jack, Sam, Grace, Alex, and Mallory Keaveney; as well as many nieces and nephews; and her dearest and closest friend, Grace F. Green. She was predeceased by her two brothers, William T. Goodrich and Eugene G. Goodrich. The family would like to thank the staff of Xavier 3 at Saint Mary's Hospital and the staff of Meridian Manor Health Care Center for their compassion and tender care given to Gloria. Services for Mrs. Keaveney will be held Monday, Aug. 3, at 9:30 a.m. from the Casey- O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St., Waterbury, to Christ Episcopal Church, 2030 East Main St., Waterbury, for services at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Old St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterbury.
