John Haynes Obituary

John W. Haynes Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - On July 24, 2009, John W. Haynes Sr., 66, took his place in heaven. To his family and friends, he was John or Jackie; to his cherished grandchildren, he was Poppa John or Poppa. John was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Pat Haynes, and brother, Bob Haynes. He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Fran Haynes; one brother, Ron Haynes and wife Debra; two sisters, Connie Hamric, Patty Riley and husband Doug; four sons, John Haynes Jr., Bobby Jones, Carl Ackiss and wife Patsy, Eddie Ackiss and daughter Christy Triepke and husband Rick. He was adored by his 10 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his loving dachshund, Sophie. John was a retired electrician/ HVAC technician who will be remembered for his zest for life and ability to make people laugh. He never missed a chance to ride his jet ski, play a few hands of poker, dance the night away with the Virginia Beach Shag Club, or just be with his many friends. Anyone who crossed John's path was no longer a stranger. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held Sunday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Emphysema Foundation or charity of your choice. To our adored John/Poppa: Your beautiful smile, abundance of love, and generous spirit will be remembered by all. Our lives will be forever better for having known you. You can rest now; we'll take it from here. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.

God has taken another one of his favorites home. John and Fran have always been an inspiration to me. John loved everyone and his love enveloped everyone who knew him. When I was with John and Fran, I knew I was in a good place, where love and laughter was the order of the day. I will miss the dances, the smiles, and his wonderful way with people. God bless you Fran for sharing your best friend and love with us all to enjoy. I have you and the family in my prayers.
