Ron Walsh Obituary

Ron Walsh CHESAPEAKE - Ron Walsh passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, in Sentara Norfolk Heart Hospital. He was surrounded by family and friends. Ron was born in Albany, N.Y., enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1971, and retired after 30 years of service as a lieutenant commander. For the past few years, Ron worked as the director of Fields and Operations for the Chesapeake United Soccer Club. His dedication to his job and to the kids of the club was very apparent and appreciated. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jeanette Heath Walsh; a son, Sean Patrick Walsh; his daughter, Kaitlin Marie Walsh; four sisters, Maureen Erb, Sharon Rouse, Terry Ascenzi, Ivy Ladyko; and his brother, Michael J. Walsh Jr.; and all of their spouses. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Chesapeake Chapel, 1416 Cedar Road. Burial will follow with full military honors in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk. The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
