Joyce Austin Obituary

Joyce Bessie Austin NORFOLK - Joyce Bessie Austin, 69, of Corporate Blvd., passed away Aug. 8, 2009, at Sentara Nursing Center in Norfolk. She was born May 16, 1940, to Annie and William Green in Trenton, N.J. She was baptized as a Seventh- day Adventist in her youth but in her years in Tidewater, she was a member of New Ship of Zion Baptist Church (Berkley) Norfolk. "Joycee," as she was affectionately known, leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 49 years, Earl Austin Jr. of Norfolk; two sons, Brian Austin of Suitland, Md., and Keith Austin of Washington, D.C.; a daughter-in-law, Sheneen of Suitland; three grandchildren, Shanay of Suitland, Shelbi and Gabbi, both of Waldorf, Md.; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Solid Rock Baptist Church, 1340 Gust Lane, Chesapeake. The Rev. Dr. Glen N. Bernard Austin Sr. (her brother-in-law) will officiate. Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach, is the burial site. Steele-Bullock Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Viewing will be held today from noon to 7 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 293 Corporate Blvd., Norfolk, by 10:15 a.m. for the procession to the church.
