I first met Jimmy in 1984. My husband, James, and I were only dating at that time and Jimmy was part of the "Wilson clan"=a group of vintage car enthusiasts which included members of the Wilson Street Machines. There were get-togethers, meetings, and car shows and that is how I got to know Jimmy---with his smile, laughter, and friendly humor. As true Buick lovers, Jimmy's and Alan's collaboration on the "Pro-Street car" made perfect sense. The SunDrop truck shade of green Skylark remains one of my favorite cars of all time. Additionally, through the years, Jimmy, Alan, and James, worked on other projects in our small shop outside of Rocky Mount. I remember how happy Jimmy was when he told us all about his engagement to Ann. Of course, we were so happy for them and James, Alan, and Floyd were among the groomsmen at the wedding. We also remember fondly talking to Jimmy about the births of Brian and Jamie and hearing his ideas on being a father such as "Don't be a 'Fred'". He did love those boys and I can say that anytime he came to our house, he would always tell us stories about what they were doing together. We will miss his greeting so one more time in memory of Jimmy let me say, "Hey, now."
All of us from this group are greatly saddened by the passing of our friend. We are trying to focus on the years that we were given and of course, we are so thankful for that time. We pray for the family and ask God to hold them close in comfort.

I was so sorry to hear today of Jimmy's passing last week. It was a real pleasure having Jimmy as part of the Support Services Department's team and more specifically the garage team at GUC. Ann and family,
We are so sorry to hear about Jim. He was always such a good kid as we last seen him. Been a few years. Our family is all in shock also. We were all coming for the funeral after Paul called Dave but seen it was held the day before. Sorry we missed it. I know we never had the pleasure of meeting you. We are lucky if we get out of NYS let alone North Carolina. We wish we could do something but I know there is nothing with us way up here. He sure will be missed. We read several of the postings. You all take care. You are in our heart and prayers. Jim's dad's brother Uncle Dave and Shirley Cleveland

Jimmy was always one of the people i looked forward to seeing at the Buick GS Nationals in Bowling Green KY each year. Jimmy made it a point to stop and talk, spend some time, ask how you and yours were doing...and just talk Buicks. The time we spent together over the last 20+ years may be only measured in hours but he made it feel like we were best friends every moment we spent together.
I know there is joy in all our hearts from having known or been a part of Jimmy's life.
My deepest condolences to Jim's family and friends.

I first met Jimmy when he was going to school at Wilson Tech for Diesel Mechanics in Wilson,NC. He was a very bright eyed young kid not much older than I. We became freinds from there and raced Buicks for a while until we drifted apart as we got older but stayed in touch. Some of my fondest memories are going over to his apartment while he was going to school and sitting up all night watching the movie channel and eating strawberry poptarts. In a way I felt like he was little brother to me. He was always willing to help when you got in a pinch. I remeber the day I helped him get his job at Ryder, he was about as happy as any day I'd ever seen him. It's hard to imagine not having him around. My heart goes out to his wife and kids. If there's anything I can do to help let me know.
