Bernard Roberson Obituary

Bernard G. Roberson CHESAPEAKE - Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Bernard Gordon "Roby" Roberson, 70, a resident of Chesapeake for 31 years, passed away Aug. 13, 2009, in his home. Born in Parmele, N.C., he was the son of the late Nicholos and Blanche Roberson. He was a 1961 graduate of North Carolina State University. Mr. Roberson retired as a captain from the U.S. Navy after 28 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Margaret Friar Roberson; three daughters, Christy Roberson of Norfolk, Teresa Quagliariello and husband Tony of Virginia Beach, and Tricia Thomas and husband Paul of Chicago; two grandchildren, Dylan and Sophia; and a brother, James O. Roberson of Newport News. A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney M. Oman Cancer Treatment Center, c/o Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, 736 Battlefield Blvd. N., Chesapeake, VA 23320. When the world losses Gordon, it is a loss for everyone because he was a good person. This has to be a great loss for his family so my thoughts and pryers are with you.

Gordon and I grew up together in Parmele together and I have great memories of him.
