Raymond Coté Obituary

Raymond Henry Coté VIRGINIA BEACH - Raymond Henry Coté, 88, passed away Aug. 9, 2009, from congestive heart failure following the interment of his wife of 55 years, Alda Nanamaker Coté, in New Haven, Conn. A former resident of Hamden, he worked as a service manager for Dictaphone Corporation (Pitney Bowes) for almost 45 years where he was known for his bow tie and good nature. He was a proud World War II veteran and a Mason in Day Spring Lodge, Hamden. Following his retirement, he relocated to Green Tree Villas in Boynton Beach, Fla. In retirement, he took up bowling and was an active parishioner, usher and member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church. He relocated to Virginia Beach in January 2007 to be near his two daughters. He was a tireless and loving caregiver of his wife as she battled Alzheimer's. He will be remembered for his faith, kind heart, sense of humor, and unrelenting love of his family and the Red Sox. He is survived by two daughters, Jill Byrd and husband Bill of Suffolk and Robin Takacs and husband Jim of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Christopher and Joselyn Takacs; and two sisters, Gladys Coté Roberts of Canada and Ann Coté Nanamaker of Orange, Conn.; and many friends and extended family. A service of remembrance was held in Connecticut at the Masonic Home and Hospital. Burial will be private in New Haven, Conn., at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Capital Campaign c/o St. Joseph's Episcopal Church, 3300A South Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL 33435 or to Masonicare, 33 N. Plains Industrial Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.
