Earl Massey Obituary

Earl Vernon Massey Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - E. Vernon Massey Jr., 82, of Ocean Shore Avenue, passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2009. He was born in Mappsville, Va., and was the son of the late Earl Vernon Massey Sr. and Alice Mariner Massey. He proudly served as an original crew member of the USS Repose (AH-16) in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a past commander of American Legion Post 93, a member of VFW Post 10148, and a volunteer fireman. Vernon is survived by his three sons, David E. Massey, Dale P. Massey and Douglas B. Massey; five grandchildren, Stephen P. Massey, Michael D. Massey, Christopher P. Massey, Kevin E. Massey and Jacob A. Massey; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Madison; one brother, Charles Massey; and several nieces and nephews. His wife Elizabeth passed away July 31, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, 1264 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach.
