Lewis Ottavi Obituary

Lewis A. Ottavi Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Lewis Albert Ottavi Sr., 85, passed away Aug. 12, 2009, in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. A native of New Britain, Conn., he was the son of the late Albert and Emilia Ottavi and the widower of Dorothy May Ottavi. He retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service and also retired as a food broker with Lao & Sons. He was a member of the Aragona Moose Lodge, OBGA Golf Association, Signature Golf Course and Eagle Haven Golf Course. He was an avid golfer, joke teller, and never met a stranger. Lew cherished his family and friends. He is survived by his sons, Raymond Ottavi and wife Barbara of Hampton and Lew Ottavi Jr. and wife Marty of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Raymond Ottavi and wife Carol of Gage, N.C., Shannon McCarty and husband Bill of Tampa, Fla., Lisa Ingold and husband Greg of Eugene, Ore., and Amy Lehm and husband Kent of Southern Pines, N.C.; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene DeLisa and Mary Gentile and husband Ed, both of Connecticut; nieces, nephews and many dear friends. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Saturday, Aug. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

He was one of the sweetest men I know. He always came to visit bearing a smile, gifts and jokes. He will be missed.
