Mary Caldwell Obituary

Mary Hume U. Caldwell NORFOLK - Mary Hume Upton Caldwell closed her eyes to this world and opened them in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Aug. 12, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Julien Robert and Molly Worthington Hume of Norfolk, born Aug. 9, 1925. Mary was a member of Free Mason Street Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jere C. Caldwell of Danville; her three daughters, Molly Upton Tarr of Kiawah Island, S.C., Jenny Bowman Upton of Afton, Va., and Liza Upton Bottas of Charlottesville, Va.; five stepchildren, William Logan Caldwell of Kingwood, Texas, Elizabeth C. Stamps and Robert I. Caldwell, both of Danville, Richard A. Caldwell of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., and Patrick C. Caldwell of Kailuia, Hawaii; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and one step great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Upton of Norfolk. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Heritage Hospice of Danville, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40423 or Grace Presbyterian Church of Danville, 180 Bold Venture, Danville, KY 40422. H.D Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
